Springfield Local
High School Library Media Center
Policies

The primary function of the high school media center is to serve
as a place of study and as a source of reference materials for class
assignments. It is not to be used as a convenient escape from study hall.
Students may report to the media center when they have study
hall or when a teacher authorizes them to do so. They must report directly
to the media center, sign in at the circulation desk, and be seated by the
time the tardy bell rings.
A maximum of 10 books can be checkout for 2 weeks and renewed
for an additional 2 weeks as long as no one else has a hold on the material(s).
Vertical file materials, audiovisual software, and back issues of
magazines can be checked out overnight. Reference books,
newspapers, and current magazines do not circulate and are for library
use only. A fine of 2 cents per day for the days the library is open
will be charged for overdue materials. Students are financially
responsible for lost or damaged materials. Replacement cost or cost to
repair damages will be charged for these materials. Report cards will
be withheld for fines that are not paid or materials that are not
returned.
The use of the media center is a privilege which, may be limited.
Students may receive disciplinary action for misconduct.
